Photobucket is now letting you resize your uploaded pics. What's the best 'forum friendly' size?

They give these options:
1024x768
800x600
640x480
320x240
160x120
100x75

Cheers

640 on the longest edge looks good without being huge or making people scroll, and looks a whole heap better than when uploaded directly to the forum, where it is compressed and quality lowered to reduce overheads.

JPG, quality of 75+, dpi of 72 or above.

I use 640 * 480, big enough to see detail. I do mine offsite (photobucket, there are others), it helps keep the forum bandwidth down and also people don't have to go through the hassle of logging in to see it.

Yeah I use photobucket aswell. It's bloody annoying when the pics don't upload properly, it happens nearly every time I upload.

Yes, it was fine until they fixed it. I sometimes confuse the thumbnail link instead of the full size link....

I always use photoshop to reduce the DPI to 72 before upload to photobucket, upload time is halved then you can reduce the size there after if you wish.

640 x 480 seems to be the best. If there are any mac users here I pull my photos in through iPhoto and export them with the following settings which will give you a 640 wide image:
