Distribution: in the eastern half of the continent, with a smaller race being found in the Western Australian Nullarbor region.
Habitat: open woodland, scrub, riverine forest, spinifex, and farmlands
Field Notes: grows up to 27–35 cm in length and the sexes are similar in appearance. a grey-brown parrot with blue face and throat (It does not have blue on top of the head as the name suggests). The wings arte yellow, red and blue. There are three different races with different wing colours (combinations of red, yellow, blue and green) , and different colour of belly (red or yellow). However, all races have blue faces and are brownish above.
