Interesting old compasses, this one looks very much like the replica you found at the campsite

Think I shall get one as not particulary expensive. Might come in handy when watch batteries go flat without warning.

The original was one found at the Ranger camp site Chigger, mine is a copy which I purchased. Same as the one from Crazy Crow.

Thanks, will get one as would be useful. Also from Crazy Cow is a more elaborate compass/sundial which stands on adjustable legs and has a protractor so the sundial can be orientated to the latitude of where the sundial is located.

This gives greater accuracy of the sundial readings.
