where do you get KNO3?

I buy mine from ebay as stump remover, perfectly legal and in-country from a chemical supplier

Probably do the same with cotton rope. I haven't found a reliable cotton rope for flint and steel here in Australia. If treated with KNO3 it would probably work.

yes mate, that turns it into a slow match, incidentally I just purchased some 8mm 100% cotton rope so will let you know
