Note: The Australian water dragon (Intellagama lesueurii, formerly Physignathus lesueurii), includes the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii ) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii ) subspecies

Distribution:
Gippsland region of Eastern Victoria

Habitat:
Found near freshwater creeks, rivers, lakes and dams


Field Notes:
Often seen basking in the sun near water. They are excellent at climbing rocks and trees

Distinctly green colouration. Distinguished from the eastern water dragon by dark areas on the side of its throat and yellow/orange blotches
