Task: Prepare equipment for a 2 day walk

Author/Instructor: Wentworth

Materials:
  • Pack
  • Pack liner (drybag or garbage bag to keep contents dry)
  • Cooking gear (if cooking food)
  • Rain gear
  • First Aid Kit
  • Lighting (headtorch or handheld)
  • Water purification (tablets, filter, boiling etc)
  • Miscelaneous (toilet paper, soap/ sanitizer, toothbrush, knife- personal preference applies in this category)
  • Water carrying gear (bladders, bottles, PET bottles)
  • Suitable clothing for conditions (hat, beanie, warm jacket, socks. Applicable for the region)
  • Shelter (tarp and groundsheet, hammock and tarp, tent, bivi. Suitable for the region)
  • Something to sleep on (closed cell mat, self inflating mat, underquilt for hammock. Suitable for the temperatures encountered)
  • Something to sleep in (sleepingbag, quilt, blanket suitable for the temperatures encountered)
  • Map, compass and something to keep it dry (like a map case or ziplock)


Purpose: To demonstrate knowledge of the necessary equipment for a safe and sucessful 2 day walk

Skills required: ability to determine personal requirements for a 2 day walk

Results: Your pack is suitable to be taken on a 2 day walk
