Scientific Name: Charadrius ruficapillus

Common Name: Red-capped Plover

Order: Charadriiformes

Family: Charadriidae

Other Names: Sand Lark, Red-capped or Red-necked Dotterel.

Distribution: Widespread throughout Australia.

Habitat: Estuaries, beaches, coastal and inland lakes.

Field Notes: Male; Bright Rufous crown , nape and collar, al edged partly black, black line through eye, black bill and legs, white forehaed. Females is duller and less distinct. Size 14 -16 cm.
