Fungi Ryvarden cretacia: Tinder fungus or Crumpet fungus.

I've been watching and harvesting this fruit for a couple of years now. Is appreciably larger this year. Still the only example I can find in my normal range. Timely as the last of a previous harvest is almost finished. I always let the beetle larvae finish eating before I harvest.

i find that it better to harvest just before the bugs start to borrow into the fungus,
as I have had insects come out into my pocket, where i have stored it,
and lights just as easily as when it is swissed( full of holes)

A really good fungus and wish I had one close by that could have bits taken from time to time. Brillinant tinder no arguments on that.

Have been looking out for one on my walks but not seen any except this small one I found a few weeks ago.
