Righto outdoor companies , I’ll do it myself , since your taking so long!
Want you to come up with something ultralight that folds into a backpack , and is suspended from a tree branch like this . Imagine the three sides folding together.

Needs to be more comfortable than this prototype obviously . Unless I find some better flat material.

The rope goes through the pipe for added strength (for obvious reasons).
No one wants one of these to break.

Replace rope with ultralight cinch tree hammock straps or whatever you choose.

Have put the “butt hammock “ idea aside , for the more simple and durable “Halo” design .

Needs better comfort for morning coffee . Hangs from a Strong horizontal branch .

The clip is for when you step in , then you clip that second front rope in place.

You get the idea , people who have had knee surgery or are old will understand at least!
You still want to be comfortable in the bush.

Besides what would anyone rather ?

Whats the alternative? This is better than no alternative .

have not seen anything decent yet pack weight wise Old4570 , or that looks like it would not break or be comfortable when a tall full grown human sits on it sooner or later .

I dont know how much it weighs , but supposedly has a 100kg weight capacity .
So throw it in the boot ! Dragging it around with you ?? Unless you have a quad bike or something .

Thanks Old4570 , I am 6 ft 4 , around 120 kg and break stuff like that.
I have a couple of these to put in the ute if camping with the car. They are strong .97D58410-997F-41E4-AAFD-B0522462B854.jpeg
I am not disabled , they are just the best base camp toilets in my opinion.

A couple of years ago, I was hunting with a couple of mates. I went back to camp for a cuppa one morning. Sitting by the campfire, one of my mates wandered in. He was very dirty and bedraggled, with his gear all over the place. I asked him what happened. He proceeded to tell me the funniest story I've heard in a long time. I laughed so hard I think I hurt myself. Earlier in the morning he had been contouring across a very steep hillside, when he was caught short. He spotted a log lying across the hill, so he dropped his pants, and slid his bum over the log. Unfortunately he slid over from the uphill side, and slid over to far. He overbalanced and fell backwards off the log. He came to rest about 50 yards down the hill, (did I mention it was steep). Pants down, clothes and hunting gear a mess. But luckily unhurt. Fortunately, the job had not commenced before the fall. It could have been a lot uglier. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

A rollup bush bosun’s chair ?
A slight mod and remove excess straps from this one in the pic could easily work .

Expensive though by the looks .

Or at first glance , get a folding camp chair out of the garage and add some straps to make your own?

Sewing machine and imagination required .

I have a couple of ideas; they may be unrealistic when put into practice though.

One is a modification of the abseiling / pooh sling harness. Just a length of rope with a small loop one end to slide a stick through - like a kid's swing (picture below). Imagine sitting on this swing holding onto the rope with one hand above your head - put a loop wherever is comfortable for you to hold onto and help pull you up when finished.

You know, any of these contraptions could be a bit hard to explain if someone comes across you though :D. I can imagine a parent covering a kid's eyes and walking away quickly mumbling about weirdoes in the bush :ROFLMAO:

That looks possible. The whole thing could attach to one length of rope at the top. Something to hang onto above your head to help pull you up and lower yourself down. You wouldn't need the leg or waist harness so it would be much simpler. You could go into business here Kindling!

‘ Abseiling poo sling harness ‘

Thanks , Laughed hard at that 😂 oh boy .

Here I was going with more easily acceptable terms like butt hammock , halo and bush bosun’s chair .

I don’t camp where other people are camping Randall , I don’t consider camping where other people are camping camping , that’s the idea get away from it all , I am sure they would freak out though , maybe that should go in the instructions !

It’s actually so simple an idea it is crazy it has not become mainstream anyway as far as I am concerned .

The communal armchair campers may try poo - poo on the idea to begin !

When the hard thinking is done and the design is in , they will be lining up for one Randall !

Whats that saying
“First they ignore you , then they laugh at you , then they fight you , then you win . “

Did think something like this , though with a stick or piece of conduit pipe with rope through for extra strength , also another piece behind your behind , so one on the high hamstrings , then one sits kinda behind under the behind . 2 points of contact , which would require 2 through ropes to sit on , joining together at a tie point on both sides beside the sitter .

If that makes sense .

Again , not sure how it would work practically .

Also , comfort should be put into the design ,
Thinking pool noodles foam , or some tubular black foam pipe cover stuff .

Could slide into the pack easily , you would have something at least .

For morning camp scenic coffee .

What about this? It's basically a loop of webbing and a carabiner. I think it would be the lightest and easiest to pack so far. The carabiner and webbing could be useful for other things. It looks pretty easy to set up - like tying a tie.

A walk we used to do involved a small rope drop - about 8m; this would have been awesome for that.

I’m thinking a couple of those seatbelt shoulder pads that velcro on to the sash belt in the car ,
With a webbing rig could do wonders for the derrierre to sit on .

Yes am thinking weight and size will have to be a compromise with some comfort .

I could imagine using that webbing loop to collect wood

0EB61936-22BE-45CE-9526-8741173DEF8F.pngThis kids swing could be replicated with some flattened out firehose sewn as a kidney type belt with the seat hanging down , or some thick strapping . The centre (in the way)mid bar removed and replaced with a couple offset straps to the sides . (If even needed)

A simple click in buckle across the waist with a narrower strap should do the trick , if its still required that is . Though I suspect it is not .
